NOOC’s aim is to provide pleasant accommodation, at reasonable rates, in a caring community for international post-graduate students, research workers and visiting scholars from all parts of the world.

The Centre has a Christian foundation, seeking to glorify God and demonstrate God’s love in practical ways. There is no discrimination on racial or religious grounds in the selection or treatment of residents.

The aim is to serve those in greatest need and to create a multi-national home. There is a varied programme of social and cultural events.

How We Are Run

NOOC was established almost 60 years ago by a group of concerned citizens in Oxford, with support from the British Council and Oxford City Council.

The North Oxford Overseas Centre is run by the Oxford Overseas Student Housing Association Ltd, a not-for-profit organisation with charitable status. The Board of Trustees overseas the running of NOOC. It is made up of well-qualified local professionals and academics who are committed to NOOC’s aims and Christian ethos.

The Association is registered under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014 under reference 18697R.

Office Team

 Emma (Director) re-joined the NOOC team in October 2018, having been the Administrator from 1996-2000. Emma lived and worked in Peru before settling in Oxford, where she met her husband; they have three children..

 Daniel (Assistant Director) has worked at NOOC since 2006. Daniel is a keen vegetable-grower, and follows international politics.

 Elita (Administrator) has worked at NOOC since 2015. Elita enjoys exploring new cultures, crochet and baking.
